Book Review: The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion

Blurb

Meet Don Tillman. Don is getting married. He just doesn't know who to yet. But he has designed a very detailed questionnaire to help him find the perfect woman. One thing he already knows, though, is that it's not Rosie. Absolutely, completely, definitely not.

Review

Don Tillman, a 39-year-old Geneticist tries to find a suitable wife using science. After undergoing a lot of analysis he designs a questionnaire. He thinks that these set of questions will lead him to find a suitable wife. This story is adorable. There were a lot of funny moments. The writing is really good and also the characters are so cute. I really liked the idea of finding a perfect partner using concepts of research methodology and statistics. I guess some of my friends could use the same techniques to find a partner πŸ˜„ πŸ˜„πŸ˜„since they are working in the field of data analysis.

Characters

Don Tillman:  He is a weird science guy. He is too nerdy similar to Sheldon Cooper. Socially awkward, genius and too much disciplined. He has set the timing for everything. He never goes out of his timetable. He is too practical and not emotional.

Rosie: Rosie is wild and fun. She is unsuitable to be Don's wife according to his questionnaire. She is completely opposite of Don. Rosie is smart, adventurous and fun.

The characters are completely opposite and it created chaos. They had a lot of misadventures, awkward moments and fights. It was good to see them together even when their behavior is so different. Opposites really do attract.

It was hilarious and I  enjoyed the story. I was laughing most of the time while reading. Graeme Simsion has written a wonderful story and I would recommend this book if you like fun and humour story.

Book Review: The Underground Railroad

Blurb Cora is a slave on a cotton plantation in Georgia. All the slaves lead a hellish existence, but Cora has it worse than the most; an outcast even among her fellow Africans, she is approaching womanhood where it is clear that even greater pain awaits. When Caesar, a slave recently arrived from Virginia, tells her about the Underground Railroad, they take the perilous decision to escape the North.   In Whitehead's razor-sharp imagining of the antebellum South, the Underground Railroad has assumed a physical form: a dilapidated box-car pulled along subterranean tracks by a steam locomotive, picking up fugitives wherever it can. Thus Cora embarks on a harrowing journey, seeking true freedom, pursued relentlessly by a terrifying slave catcher named Ridgeway.  As Whitehead brilliantly recreates the unique terrors for black people in the pre-Civil War era, his narrative seamlessly weaves the saga of America, from the brutal importation of Africa...
